An online trivia game for you and your friends

A good trivia night needs three things: plenty of questions nobody has heard before, fair scoring, and a quizmaster who doesn't have to read everything out. Snazzlebop does all three. One person opens a room on a laptop or TV, everyone else answers on their phone, and the show keeps the score.

Trivia Tonight has more than 1,300 questions across 15 categories, from geography and science to film, food and sport. Questions aren't repeated in a room until the whole pool has been used, so the same group can come back week after week.

How to host a trivia night online

Open snazzlebop.com, type your name and press Create room. You get a five-letter code. Friends type it on the home page, or you send them the invite link.

If you're together in one room, open TV mode on a laptop connected to the TV: the questions and the scoreboard go on the big screen while phones stay as buzzers. If you're apart, share the TV mode tab on your video call.

Pick Trivia Tonight, choose a style and the number of rounds, and press Start. The rules show on everyone's screen before the first question, so nobody needs them explained.

Make it a full quiz night

Build a show instead of a single game: a playlist of three or four games on one scoreboard. A strong running order is Trivia Tonight, then Wager Wits, then Crossword Race, finishing with the Jackpot round, where the scores can still swing.

Want your own questions? The host can add a custom quiz pack to a room for birthdays, office quizzes or a class revision session.
